Poe's Raven WIP, Art Shows, a Wedding and Gardening

I've been busy exhibiting at art shows, keeping up with my eBay store, working on commissioned artwork and trying to get my garden planted. Oh yeah, and in the midst of all this, my oldest daughter got married and had her reception last week-end. (My sister from California came back for Lisa's wedding, but that is a fun kind of busy!). It's been a hectic last couple of weeks.

Anyone who knows me, knows I always have several sketch books at the ready for when inspiration strikes. There are usually three beside my bed, one or two small ones in my purse and a large one called my 'painting sketchbook' that I use to compose larger paintings. Poe's Raven painting titled 'Nevermore...' began life as a quick, 3" sketch in one of my bedside sketchbooks. The following photos show the progress of the 8" x 10" acrylic painting which was exhibited at the Northeast Nebraska Art Association's Annual Spring Art Show in April.

I always begin a painting with an under coat.

I worked from the top down using acrylics.

Almost finished. Just a few more details to add.

The painting is signed and ready to debut at the art show!
I had 10 pieces at NNAA's Spring Art show, plus I managed to send five pieces to Prairie Winds Art Center's International Miniature Art Competition in Grand Island, NE. (This show runs through May 30th for anyone who'd like to go and check it out).

'Snack Time' Sea Anteater won an honorable mention award.
Well, I hear my garden calling me. I'm off to get my garden tiller from my newly married daughter who borrowed it for her garden. Hoping everyone has a great week-end!
